Quilter’s Home Magazine
March 6, 2008 by Lynn Douglass
Speaking of Mark Lipinski’s Quilter’s Home Magazine, my friend, Helen Stubbings, has a quilt featured on page 43. Helen is from Australia, and she did months and months of experimenting to perfect the technique of adding color to quilts. It’s definitely not your traditional way of doing things! Helen has created a number of patterns, has a new book on the market, and has inspired many award winning quilters to use her colored pencil technique on their own quilts. It was great fun to see that Mark featured her quilt, Coloured Roses, in his magazine this month! In Mark’s column, “Mark My Words”, he writes about how little we really know about the people we meet in passing. I found it quite thought provoking. There’s also a very informative article about the Chinese tradition of foot binding in order to make a foot fit into a tiny lotus slipper. I can’t imagine having my size 9.5 wide feet bound to fit into those tiny shoes! These are just a few highlights of this month’s issue. I enjoyed reading it from the beginning to the end! Make a hot cuppa tea, put your feet up, and enjoy!

HI Lynn, thanks for stopping by my blog… yes its lovely to have been in the mag but I havent seen it yet! hope to get a copy when over there in May. Yes, Teaching Colourque at HMQS in SLC and then market in Portland OR -will you be at either?
great to hear from you, Helen
I love Mark’s mag and the Yahoo group he runs! Thanks for reminding me that I need to pick up one at the store. (I really should just get a subscription, I know.)
Will look forward to reading about his thoughts on how little we know of people we meet. I suggested something similar once on my blog and it went over like I was speaking heresy. Oh well, everyone should learn to be able to laugh at themselves.
Sounds like your time at Carla’s was loaded with fun!
